Fragile and conflict-affected states are amongst those most vulnerable to climate change yet it is these areas that have historically received the least climate finance. As part of the Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance, Mercy Corps recently published new research which showcases innovative solutions that climate funders could seek to adopt in order to improve their reach and impact in fragile and conflict-affected situations. The Hague Roundtable on Climate & Security brings together a range of stakeholders to discuss the ways in which climate finance can reach those who need it most.

Although our understanding surrounding the difficulties in delivering climate finance to fragile and conflict-affected states has increased in recent years, addressing this situation is still as urgent as ever. We sit at a pivotal time as climate experts and policy-makers are rethinking climate funding structures related to Loss and Damage, multilateral development banks and insurance mechanisms, such as the Global Shield.

How can we improve climate finance in fragile states?

Join Mercy Corps on 7th March 2023 as we hear from participants with backgrounds in civil society, government and the private sector as they share experiences and identify solutions to channel climate finance to fragile states. The Roundtable will seek to advance ideas on:

  • Designing solutions to deliver finance and enhance climate resilience in fragile and conflict-affected situations.
  • Funding these solutions in fragile and conflict-affected situations.
  • Delivering these solutions in fragile and conflict-affected situations.
