WEBINAR – Climate and adaptation finance: how to deliver it, and why it matters

The provision and mobilisation of climate finance by developed countries is critical to enabling and incentivising climate action by developing countries. Although developed countries committed to allocating $100 billion for climate finance each year by 2020, this target has been missed every single year to date. Moreover, adaptation finance is essential to make communities more resilient to the impacts of climate change. Shortfalls both in climate and adaptation finance provision have therefore been laid at the feet of developed countries collectively, jeopardising future cooperation and joint ambition on climate change.

Climate and adaptation finance will be a key priority at the upcoming COP28 that will take place in Dubai. The conference is an opportunity to prevent climate finance from being a contentious issue but rather a way to create a better and more resilient world.

This launch event will be centred around the launch of ODI’s new report, funded by the Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance: A fair share of climate finance? The Adaptation Edition. The webinar aims to create a dialogue between stakeholders from the global to the local level. The discussion will focus on the current state of climate and adaptation finance and explore the impact that continuous underfunding has for those in the frontlines of climate change.
